The Health and Safety Services Department of the Mid-South Chapter offers a variety of educational programs and courses at several venues throughout the area. The local chapter teaches lifesaving skills in the areas of CPR, first aid, use of an automatic external defibrillator, pet first, aquatics training, as well as a babysitter’s training course. The courses are taught by certified Red Cross instructors and help make our community a healthier and safer place. Courses are open to anyone in the community. On-site training for Red Cross courses can be scheduled for businesses and other groups in the community who request the training. Be sure and read the guidelines and course descriptions before proceeding with online registration. If you prefer, a pdf format of the class schedule and registration form can be printed out and mailed into the local chapter office for registration.
Course Delivery Methods: The Mid-South Chapter of the American Red Cross makes every effort to provide residents of the area it serves with the flexibility to choose how Health and Safety Service programs are delivered. There are three methods currently that are used.
Community Courses: This means that the courses listed on this web site are all community courses and as such are open to the general public. The course may be provided at the Mid-South Chapter office (1400 Central Avenue) or a facility determined by the chapter. The Red Cross directly supervises the instructor, provides all of the equipment/materials and assumes all record keeping responsibilities. Health and Safety Services
Full Service Courses: If there is a group of 8 or more that are signed up for course training, the course can be taught on-site at a location chosen by the participants, provided there are adequate training facilities or at the Chapter office. The individuals taking the course can determine the date and time of the course. Once again, the Red Cross directly supervises the instructor provides all equipment/materials and assumes all record keeping responsibilities. A written agreement will be signed so that each party has a clear understanding of their responsibilities before the training event begins.
Authorized Provider: A company, organization, agency or individual that has a signed Authorized Provider Agreement with a chapter to provide American Red Cross instruction programs to its employees, members, clients, customers and/or the community in accordance with the standards and objectives of the program they desire to teach.
Authorized Provider Course: A course scheduled by the authorized provider that is open to its employees, members, clients, customers and/or the community in accordance with the Authorized Provider Agreement. The course is provided at a facility determined by the authorized provider and the authorized provider supervises the instructor (who may be the authorized provider’s employee or volunteer); provides all equipment/materials through purchase, ownership or rental; and completes the required records and paper work for submittal to the Red Cross Chapter.
